











Because they're as American as Apple pie. There are a selected few items in our respective closets that can transcend time, generations, races, and even music genres alike. This shoe is so versatile, it looks just as edgy with a suit or dress as it does dressed down with a white t-shirt and jeans. Embraced by tots to senior citizens, punks in London to gang bangers (coordinated with their color bandanas of choice) in California, there's no other universally loved item than the Chuck Taylor sneaker.
Owning a couple of pairs myself, I personally feel you don't own that pair until it's worn in. And by 'worn in', I don't mean wearing them five times and it developing a smudge. I really mean years upon years of wear and tear, clouds of permanent grit and dirt, threads unloosening and worn out soles beyond repair. To me, Chuck Taylor's aren't meant to be clean because of their ability to last a lifetime. They'll be there for you through the phases of your life and never let you down.
My very next pair (black low top) will be "worn in" by me running a car over them repeatedly until they reach my desired look. Try it. Should be fun.
