Even Tire Maker Bridgestone is Making Ebook
Readers

Ebook readers are all the rage right now with a new device for reading electronic books appearing nearly every weak. Bridgestone is known for making tires but apparently they are also playing around with digital displays such as the flexible ebook reader pictured above. Crunchgear says the reader has a 10.7-inch-screen and is about half as thin as Amazon.com's Kindle. Bridgestone will not be putting its ebook reader prototype into production itself but they could license or sell the technology to another company that might mass produce the device.

The City's Olivia Palermo Gossips About the Show,
Fashion & Whitney

Okay I'll admit it -- I like Olivia Palermo. And despite MTV's best efforts to make her seem like the Wicked Witch of the (Upper) East compared to Gilda-esque Whitney, she's become our own real-life Blair Waldorf (and that's a very good thing). Even during this season's turf wars between her and Elle's PR director, she has looked fiercely flawless. So, how does she do it? We got the scoop from The City's uptown girl on fall fashion, her to-die-for skin and, of course, the show:

What are your must-have items for fall?
Roberta Freymann's statement necklaces, designer Brian Reyes' gorgeous jewelry collection, Chloe's Gemma bag and Topshop's grey lace-up booties (pictured).

What makeup products can't you live without?
I can't give away all my secrets, but I am a huge fan of Guerlain and YSL products.

Do you ever shop online? What are some of your fave shopping and fashion sites?
I do buy some things online, mostly shoes because I know they'll fit. But there are so many great fashion sites out there -- WhoWhatWear.com, Style.com, WWD.com, Grazia.Daily.co.uk.

In one episode, we saw you shopping on Canal Street. Do you ever shop for bargains?
I always love a bargain, but I think it's easier to find a deal in a situation where you can negotiate prices. I've found great pieces at antique markets, flea markets or road shows.

Do you have any fashion regrets? Anything you've bought that you'll never wear?
I always try to buy things that I know will work with what I have in my closet, or something that I know I'll grow into.

Do you think you're portrayed accurately on the show?
I think that what you see of me on the show is a very small aspect of my life on the whole -- you only see me in a very limited capacity at work. I don't think that anyone can really get a true sense of what I'm like as a person by watching those few minutes I have on screen each week. And, of course, it's entertainment television, so things tend to get played up and dramatized. I don't think anyone really has that much drama in their everyday life!

Do you ever cringe, laugh or cry when you see yourself on the show?
I do cringe occasionally when I see something on screen that didn't play out quite the same way in real life, but it's a half-hour show and I realize there's not room for everything to make the final edit. The editing can get frustrating sometimes, but at the end of the day it's all for the sake of entertaining our viewers.

Are you friends with Whitney? Do you ever hang out with her?
Whitney and I don't really get the opportunity to hang out much. We're both so busy with work and filming, and then trying to catch up with our regular lives. But when we do see each other we are absolutely friendly. I enjoy running into her and catching up on how she's been.

Best Buy is offering a Black Friday VIP contest to shoppers in 25 cities. To enter shoppers have to write a short 250 words or less essay about what they are most excited about this Black Friday. One winner from each of the 25 eligible markets will win a $1,000 Best Buy Gift Card. They will also win VIP treatment, which Best Buy describes as "a limousine ride to and from the designated Best Buy store, special seating outside for the winner and three special guests, and early admittance into the store at 4:30 a.m." Each winner will also receive an Insignia Digital Camcorder to document their experience. Walmart Lowering Prices on Turkeys, Televisions

Determined to win shoppers' hearts -- and wallets -- at Thanksgiving, Walmart is cutting prices on turkeys and other traditional fixings, as well as on flat-panel TVs.

U.S. stores are selling whole, 12-pound (5.4-kilogram) turkeys for 40 cents a pound starting today, Walmart said in a statement. That's a third of last Thanksgiving's average price in a survey by the American Farm Bureau Federation in Washington.Starting Nov. 7, the Bentonville, Arkansas-based retailer will sell a Hewlett-Packard Co. notebook computer for $298; a 42-inch (107-centimeters) Sharp Corp. flat-panel TV for $498, down $270 from its regular price, and a 46-inch model, which usually sells for $1,158, for $698, according to Walmart.

The company will cut prices weekly as consumers, pinched by job losses, delay holiday purchases, John Fleming, chief merchandising officer, told analysts Oct. 21. Groceries accounted for 49 percent of U.S. stores sales last year, followed by electronics and other entertainment items, which generated 13 percent of revenue, according to an annual securities filing.

Walmart said it reduced prices on seven items, including turkey, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, stuffing, a five-pound bag of red potatoes, dinner rolls and a pumpkin roll cake, for a $20 dinner serving eight people. Thanksgiving, officially the fourth Thursday of November, is on November 26 this year.

The National Retail Federation conducted a poll in which 43% of respondents said that they will decide where to shop based on who has the best discounts this holiday season. Store loyalty is out the window: it's all about who has the best deals. Clearly, Walmart is determined to be the store with the best deals.

Nicole Kidman doesn't usually open up in interviews, but she apparently made an exception for British GQ. Nicole talked about her relationships, love and her experimentation with kinky sex fetish practices. The Daily Mail has excerpts from the interview in which Nicole says her life has been about exploring different kinds of love.

'I've explored obsession. I've explored loss and love in terms of being in a grief-stricken place, I've explored strange sexual fetish stuff, I've explored the mundane aspect of marriage, and monogamy,' she said.But while she confessed she had previously experienced the 'mundane' side of relationships, she described her present marriage as 'raw' and 'dangerous'.'You work on it,' she said. 'It's a very extraordinary, adventurous place to be: incredibly raw, incredibly dangerous and you're very much out at sea. You're exposed. You could drown.

'When you commit to someone like that, you live and die together by that decision.'Miss Kidman opened up about her love life in a new interview with GQ magazine.The Oscar-winning film star admitted that her marriage to Cruise had been responsible for her rise to fame and revealed that her agents had told her not to tie the knot with the Days Of Thunder star.

'I became famous very young. I became very famous because I was the wife of somebody,' she told GQ.'I did a lot of good, worthwhile work in Australia between the ages of 14 and 19 and then I married someone famous. And really, despite the huge profile that brought to me, I was still finding my feet.'I know my agents at the time were like "Do not get married! It will ruin your career!" and I was like "But I'm in love". All I know is that I wasn't someone interested in fame. And that's not why I got married. I wanted to work with people who intrigued me.'

Nicole has always kept diaries and journals but she burned most of them when she married Keith Urban. She also refused to talk about the end of her marriage to Tom Cruise and says she never will discuss the details. She says that it's a mistake to look at the film Eyes Wide Shut for clues to why their marriage went wrong that they were actually happily married during that time period.

We think she looks great with her natural red hair color again. As for the fetish stuff, Nic's not naming names.
