The current issue of Bazaar contains no Lauder advertisements, although Sensuous ads are scheduled to run this fall. (Ads for the fragrance are already on the Web site of this newspaper.)It seems to us that Harper's Bazaar told its readers exactly what it was doing with the statement: "The faces of Estee Lauder's new Sensuous fragrance wear the highlights of the Fall Collections." Isn't that about the same as saying "sponsored by Estee Lauder"? We think Harper's Bazaar readers readers are sophisticated enough to know what's going on. They know it's a promotion. So it's silly for Estee Lauder to claim otherwise. And Gwyneth is always being featured in editorial fashion spreads: it's not like they chose some inappropriate model that never would have made it into Harper's Bazaar if she hadn't been working for Estee Lauder. Although thirty-eight pages is pushing it a bit.
Glenda Bailey, the editor in chief of Bazaar, was unavailable for a telephone interview before press time, said Alexandra Carlin, the director of public relations for Hearst Magazines. But Ms. Carlin sent a statement from Harper's Bazaar. It said, in part, "Like many magazines, we often feature celebrities to coincide with their beauty and fashion launches."

But this issue of Bazaar devotes prime editorial real estate to the Lauder spokesmodels. The package includes the magazine's cover of Ms. Paltrow, 38 pages in the consecutive advertising-free section called "the well," plus 2 pages in the beauty section.The opening page of the well declares its intentions: "The faces of Estee Lauder's new Sensuous fragrance wear the highlights of the FALL COLLECTIONS."The magazine's Web site also features a video that Lauder plans to show at its cosmetics counters.

Following the release of the widely sought after Nike SB Dunk Low ?Homers?, Nike will release the Nike SB Dunk High ?Marge Simpson.? The shoes feature a yellow base, blue accents, and a light-green Nike swoosh. Nike will try to capitalize on the success of the Homers with these follow-up Simpsons shoes, but ultimately, the Homers are much simpler and nicer. The color scheme of the Marge is not easy on the eyes.
Already released at a Nike SB retailer in Singapore, there is no news confirming a US release. What sneaker-heads and Simpsons fans alike will definitely want is a Bart Simpson Nike SB Dunk Low release. Let?s hope Nike answers are prayers.

A new report from Science Daily says that watermelon has many similarities to the drug Viagra.
[S]cientists say watermelon has ingredients that deliver Viagra-like effects to the body's blood vessels and may even increase libido. "The more we study watermelons, the more we realize just how amazing a fruit it is in providing natural enhancers to the human body," said Dr. Bhimu Patil, director of Texas A&M's Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Center in College Station."We've always known that watermelon is good for you, but the list of its very important healthful benefits grows longer with each study."You might keep an eye on those who are ingesting large amounts of watermelon this weekend. Any man who heads for the watermelon display has probably seen this article. Or, he could just be fond of watermelon.
Beneficial ingredients in watermelon and other fruits and vegetables are known as phyto-nutrients, naturally occurring compounds that are bioactive, or able to react with the human body to trigger healthy reactions, Patil said.In watermelons, these include lycopene, beta carotene and the rising star among its phyto-nutrients -- citrulline -- whose beneficial functions are now being unraveled. Among them is the ability to relax blood vessels, much like Viagra does.Scientists know that when watermelon is consumed, citrulline is converted to arginine through certain enzymes. Arginine is an amino acid that works wonders on the heart and circulation system and maintains a good immune system, Patil said.
"The citrulline-arginine relationship helps heart health, the immune system and may prove to be very helpful for those who suffer from obesity and type 2 diabetes," said Patil. "Arginine boosts nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels, the same basic effect that Viagra has, to treat erectile dysfunction and maybe even prevent it."

The Beijing Olympics are in August. Nike used some inspiration from the Chinese Qi Xi (The Night Of Sevens) festival to design a new pack of shoes for the occasion. This pack has the Court Force Premium Hi and Low and the Air Max One Premium. This Pack is available at Atmos website.
The Nike Court Force High Premium has a white/blue/yellow colorway. The main body is white. The mudguard is dark blue. The shoe lace region has light blue panels. There are panels of yellow as accents. This is the only High top of this pack. It has the extra feature of having dark blue strips at the back of the heel. One pair costs 15,750 Yen.
The Nike Court Force Low Premium has a light blue mudguard. There are silver and light blue panels as accents at the first pair of shoe laces. The panels that contain the shoe lace holes are dark blue in color. The Nike swoosh is yellow. The heel has a tab of light blue. The inner lining is red. One pair costs 13,600 Yen.
The Nike Air Max One Premium has accents in dark blue and light blue. The mudguard is white. The shoe upper seems to be made of mesh material. This costs 14,175 Yen.

Some of the gadget blogs are reporting that lines have already started to form for 3G iPhone outside the flagship Apple Store in New York City. That's very early since the new iPhone's release date is July 11th. Gear Diary reports that the extremely early iPhone shoppers may be attempting some sort of record or simply out for some publicity for themselves.
"This is the first line forming for the 3G iPhone at the flagship Apple 5th Avenue Store in New York City. About 10 people in line with the first two being a man and woman with a young child. I talked to the security guards and New York police who will allow everyone to stay and indicated that as of yet there are no plans to put out barricades. It appears that most (if not all) of the people in line are part of some group who may be either attempting to set a record for waiting in line or gain some publicity for themselves. It's too early to tell if this is a hoax or whether these folks will stay in line through sun and rain for the next seven days."Engadget has video footage of some of the early birds here. These people are far ahead of the rush but there are bound to people waiting outside iPhone stores the night before the big release date. CNN says AT&T stores will be opening early to assist customers.
