What a nice proposition. "Come on up to the Marchesa show and look at the make up" Oh, ok, if I must. Arrive at the Stila set up and talk to Talia Sobrook and Sara Lucero. The inspiration is Elizabethan. Pure, pale skin, matt, but still pretty. (Trend alert) Talia assures me that matt skin will be the next big thing in make up. Alright, good to know. A flared line of individual lashes, on the lid, Boquet, Chinois and Smoky Quartz. Cheeks are the new Cherry Crush stain, also on lips. Subtle and beautiful, the Stila team is coming out with a whole pallet come Fall. Teddy Charles pulled back hair into a 'soft ballerina' using T3 plump. (Gotta say I love that stuff).

Add to myYahoo!....a thing or two about dressing us! I think he just gets what we want. This collection has bit of everything, and seems a little more eclectic than his other shows. A few of the skirts are on the longish side, but the genius triple buckle shoes (trend alert) give enough length to the leg not to be dowdy. I like a grey coat worn over a gold dress with a leather newsboy hat, a black chiffon gown with a crop brown leather jacket and a gold and black leather jacket is flashy. Little felt 50's hats (trend alert), flat roll down cuff boots in plum and some bright, chunky jewelry give the models individuality, and makes this collection all about personal styling. A beautiful dress with the cream collar right up to the wearers lipstick makes me worry about dry cleaning bills. A beautiful mood, real clothes, casual but seriously made with much attention to detail. A collection that wants you to take a 2nd look.

Add to myYahoo! The Badgley Mischka show at New York Fashion Week featured some lovely gowns in jewel tones: emerald green, purple and some gorgeous silver sheaths as well. The 1920s made their way into this collection with a stunning, silver dress featuring beaded fringe. The models' hair was pure Veronica Lake, with deep side parts and soft waves. One model had a short, straight bob, but the deep side part remained. The models had porcelain complexions with quite a bit of blush: it was a bit retro, but with a soft new look. The black, thigh high boots were a must-have.

It’s that time of year, when our feet emerge from the safe, comfortable, full coverage confines of our winter boots in need of some serious beautification. Even with a pair of sandals with straps that strategically cover our “problem” toe(s) (we all have one), your previously hidden-in-(insert snow boot brand here) crusty heels will need to be “decrustified” with a good pedicure. For sistas with “big hooves”, size 10 and above, like myself, it’s even more important to keep your feet in tip-top shape.
So we asked Dr. Oliver Zong, a prominent podiatrist in New York City who has seen his share of corns, bunions, and foot issues, to give us some pedicure safety tips. He’s has seen countless patients who have developed infections in their feet as a result of spa pedicures.
Dr. Zong?s Pedi-Do?s:
* Do ask salon workers how the foot spas are maintained and how often they are cleaned. Take notice of their actions while they are working on clients to see if footbaths are disinfected with each customer.
* Do pay attention to the time spent cleaning footbaths between customers. The disinfectant needs to work for the full time listed on its label, typically 10 minutes, depending on the type of disinfectant. It is worth your health & safety to practice patience at the spa!
* Do check your skin for infection during the days following your pedicure. Open wounds may appear on the skin of your feet and legs and can look like insect bites, but increase in size and severity over time.
* Do visit your podiatrist or primary care physician if you suspect you may have a serious infection.
Dr. Zong?s Pedi-Don?ts:
* Don?t get a pedicure if you have cuts or abrasions on your feet or legs. Microorganisms living in footbaths can enter through the skin and cause infection.
* Don?t shave, wax or use hair removal creams within a day before getting a pedicure
* Don?t get a pedicure if you have bug bites, bruises, scratches, scabs or poison ivy.
