Reebok EXT Lux Snakeskin Pack

Reebok EXT Lux Snakeskin Pack

The Reebok EXT Lux Snakeskin Pack is available now at retailers such as Atmos and GETTRY. The pack consists of the Reebok Insta Pump Fury and Pump Omni Lite.

These sneakers feature cream and bronze colorways that are complement with snakeskin. The combination of rich textures results in a very chic shoe. I like the look of the Pump Omni Lite, particularly the use of the bronze. I’m not a big fan of the Insta Pump Fury. But if you like that model, these are a good choice.

These kicks are priced at 24,150 yen (~ $226 USD). Via Hypebeast.

Gossip Girl Style Takes Britain By Storm

Photo of cast of Gossip Girl

The styles worn on the television show Gossip Girl have takenBritain by storm. Teens emulate the characters' preppy, upscale style and the stores are obliging by featuring collections which reflect the zeitgeist of the show. But some commentators think the whole show is just one big product placement ad opportunity.
Gossip Girl, the most talked about American teenage television drama and, perhaps, the most cynical product placement exercise in history, is set to transform British teenage girls into preppy Manhattan Upper East-Siders.

Such is the hype that it's a trend too irresistible for fashion retailers to ignore. With the series now airing on ITV2, designers have already taken their cue and the high street will follow. 'As far as teenage fashion is concerned, they have definitely hit the ground running,' said British style and fashion commentator Charlie Porter.

*****

The plot appears secondary. Although TV ratings have not been that great, Gossip Girl has huge play on the internet - through its own website, through social networking sites like MySpace and Bebo, through internet and mobile phone downloads. This is the real seat of its power. Watch an episode - buy the clothes. A quick click, a few hundred dollars on the credit card later, and you too could possess Blair's Ralph Lauren look, or Fendi sunglasses, or the must-have Balenciaga bag.

Fashion experts now predict the preppy/Wasp style is going to be big. The catwalk shows in February had key items which means the look that Gossip Girl has been promoting during its first series will be in the shops in the autumn.
It could be worse. The show could be set in the 70s in the Midwest. Oh, wait, that's already been done. As far as we know, not one person on the planet wanted to buy anything worn on That 70s Show.

Cardigans II: The Long Ones

Beyond the classic cardigans, I am also obsessed with long cardigans. They give off that effortlessly chic look that is just so...well, chic.
The beauty of it is that the long cardigan look really IS effortless and easy to achieve. Take a plain long cardigan, like these two from UO (left) and American Apparel (right), and pair it with a tank top (black/white or more interestingly- contrasting colored!), skinny jeans (or shorts) and flats (or heels!) and you are good to go! And because the look is so plain and simple, it is also the perfect canvas to accessorize with. Throw on a sharp colored headband, a bold colored scarf, a funky long necklace, crazy earrings, chunky bangles or a fabulous bag for a touch of fun. If you are too lazy to even do that (like me!), then you are in luck. The long cardigan trend has been around long enough to evolve with sharp, geometric prints, contrasting colors and bold details like big gold buttons that it can be worn just as it is, sans accessories, and still look fabulous and fun. I am loving these two refreshingly colored cardigans from Marc by Marc Jacobs. The bold contrasting blue colors with the geometric prints and the gold lining (left) gives the cardigan an old fashioned yet retro look that is both refreshing and stylish. And I just LOVE the dark blue sleeves with the line of gold buttons on that pale yellow cardigan. That little details gives the otherwise ordinary yellow cardigan that extra something that makes it special. For more washable options, there are these classic cardigans with bold contrasting colors from American Apparel. This is the perfect way to add some color to your summer wardrobe!
For something a bit more subtle that may even last you through fall, try these cardigans with details and trimmings from Vince (left) and Urban Outfitters (right). They are far from "mumsie"- just remember not to pair them with bermuda shorts like that model above (left), it should be paired with something either really long or really short!

The White Dress. A Summer Staple.

Seeing this photograph of Kirsten Dunst in this white dress made me think 3 things: 1. Thank goodness Kirsten is back running around town in pretty, pretty things2. I was wrong to ignore my overwhelming urge to dye my hair back to pale baby blonde and, most importantly…3. I should not abandon my [...]

PayPal Founder Sets Sight on Moderately Priced
Electric Car

Photo of Tesla Roadster

We've all heard about the electric car, but it never really materialized. But now the co-founder of PayPal (he sold it to Ebay in 2002) is determinedto bring an affordable, electric car to market in just a few years. The Tesla Roadster (pictured) is the company's first car -- it will cost $100,000 and will be limited in number. But the affordable electric car is coming soon afterwards. Entrepreneur Elon Musk talked to Newsweek's Fareed Zakaria about why an electric car is better than an plug-in hybrid and the problem of battery size in an electric car.
Your car runs exclusively on electricity, but GM and Toyota are working on so-called plug-in hybrids, which also feature a gas tank to extend the range. Why didn't you do the same?

We spent a lot of time last year looking at plug-in hybrids and ultimately concluded that it would not be a very good car. You're forced to compromise. Because you need both a gasoline-powered engine and a big battery, neither can be very good, and the engine will be a weak engine. It's just not where the future lies. We'll be able to offer a car with a 305-mile range roughly three years from now.

*****

I think what we'll see is an increasing amount of energy being stored in the battery pack and a lowering of the cost of the battery pack over time. It's not the only thing. The efficiency of the electric motor, the efficiency of the powertrain, the rolling resistance are all important.... I think engineering is harder than physics, and I'm a physics guy. If you look at the improvement of battery energy density, it tracks to about 8 or 9 percent a year.
It will be interesting to see if the moderately priced electric car will be as stylish looking as the $100,000 roadster. We wonder how many people will forget to plug in their electric cars at night and then be stuck the next day?
