Danica McKellar is the Face of Casio's Prizm

Casio America, Inc. has partnered with actress and New York Times bestselling author Danica McKellar in a campaign for its Prizm calculator. Danica will star in a will be featured in a photo and video shoot for the Prizm graphing calculator.

Danica says, "Mathematics is a true passion of mine and I am thrilled to be working with Casio in support of their PRIZM calculator. The PRIZM has an amazing color display, and its graphing features are incredibly powerful. Power, smarts, beauty - the whole package; who says 'smart' has to be dull?"

The Prizm is Casio's next-generation graphing calculator. It features Casio's Picture Plot 1 technology, which enables users to perform mathematical equations on top of real-life images.

Just Born has unveiled new packaging for its Hot Tamales candies. The fiery new packaging maintains the traditional fireball, but features a dark red background with bright red flames. The new packaging also now features the word "Fierce."

Zipcar Brings Car Sharing Service to Austin

Zipcar has brought its car-sharing network to the city of Austin, Texas. Zipcar will launch in Austin with 40 vehicles, including hybrids, hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs and pickup trucks. Vehicles will be located throughout downtown Austin and on the University of Texas at Austin's main campus and west campus.

Mark Norman, Zipcar president and COO, said in a statement, "With the flexibility, reliability and convenience that Zipcar offers, along with our variety of fun and functional vehicle choices, Zipcar members in Austin now have more options to meet their transportation needs. Whether they want to visit Lake Travis, go on a road trip to New Braunfels, run an errand at Home Depot or attend a business meeting, Zipcar gives our members the option to drive what, when, where and how they want."

Zipcar hourly and daily rates include gas, reserved parking spots, insurance, roadside assistance and up to 180 miles of driving per day. Cars can be reserved for as short as an hour. Rates on all vehicles start as low as $7 per hour and $66 per day (24 hours).

Betsey Johnson Files Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Betsey Johnson has filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy -- again. The last time she was bailed out by Steve Madden. But the hoped for turnaround did not happen and sales have not been robust.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the company will close most of its 63 stores close. Steven Madden Ltd. still owns the Betsey Johnson license and will probably keep four or five flagship stores open in New York City and perhaps a few more in other big cities.

The company had hoped to find a buyer or big investor in January, but a major buyer backed out of the deal at the last minute causing a cash crisis. A company could buy Betsey Johnson's company out of bankruptcy and keep it going or simply liquidate the stores.

So what happened? Reports say that the line is sold in luxury areas, but it skews young. With the recession, girls can't buy $450 prom dresses and that has really hit the business hard. The popular costume jewelry and accessories lines will still be sold at stores like Nordstrom and Betsey herself is reportedly going to work with Steve Madden.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood Calls For
Federal Ban on Cellphone Use While Driving

Ray LaHood Official DOT Photo U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has had it with distracted drivers causing accidents because they are talking on a cellphone or texting. He is calling for a nationwide ban on use of cell phones for talking or texting while driving. Reuters reports that Secretary LaHood wants a very strict law that bans talking on a cellphone or texting while driving any type of vehicle on any road in the country.

LaHood says there is a national epidemic of accidents due to people texting and talking while driving. His comments were made at a distracted-driving summit in San Antonio, Texas. The call for a federal law was a bit surprising. Most traffic laws are state laws. There is no federal DUI law, for example.

LaHood quoted statistics by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that says that 3,000 fatal traffic accidents last year were the result of drivers using cell phones to talk or text. Using a phone while driving slows a driver's reaction time the same amount as if the driver had a blood alcohol level of .08. That's enough for a DUI in most states.

Not every one is a fan. The National Motorists Association insists that a federal law is not needed, because distracted driving is already covered under state laws. The president, Gary Biller, says the government should do public service announcements and educate the public about the dangers of texting and driving.

Nicki Minaj Gets Beamed Down to Hawaii Beach in
Starships Music Video

The music video for Nicki Minaj's "Starships" has been released. The video was shot in Hawaii and directed by Anthony Madler. Nicki said the top of the Hawaiian mountain was very gold. Nicki tweeted, "The people of Hawaii were so enchanting. And that mountain top was freezing. The wind was blowing so hard (pauz) my ears hurt @ the end."
