Justin Timberlake Claims Credit for Trucker Hat

Cover of Fashion magazine with Justin Timberlake on the cover In a new interview with Vanity Fair's Fashion Rocks, Justin Timberlake claims credit for starting the trend of wearing trucker hats.

"It's funny, I keep hearing Ashton Kutcher say how he was responsible for trucker caps," says Timberlake, 27, in the cover story for Fashion Rocks, a magazine supplement sent to Vanity Fair subscribers with the new issue.

Timberlake maintains that he and best friend Trace Ayala - with whom he launched the William Rast denim line in 2005 - "were wearing them when we were seventeen."

Still, the singer admits he doesn't try to be trendsetter. "Honestly, I don't walk out of my house thinking, Man, I hope somebody thinks this looks cool!" he says. "There's some stuff I wear that people think is not cool."

This is not really a trend that one should be taking credit for. In fact, let Ashton take all the credit. It looked goofy then and it looks goofy now. Lose them. Unless you're a trucker, of course.

My little (6'6" brick shithouse, 28-year-old) brother may be more tan, more photogenic, and more model-like than I am (indeed, he did some professional modeling in the past), but he has crow's feet and I don't.

Not that it matters, since crow's feet aren't bad on men, but still. I take what I can get.

(We're pictured in moving hell, as I vacate my Cincinnati apartment after leaving it unoccupied for the last three months. Did I mention that I now share a lovely house in California with Hill, her boyfriend, and another housemate? Because I do, and it's pretty sweet. I'm really missing her this week!)

FAO Schwarz to Place Toy Stores Inside Macy's

Macys FAO Schwarz Macy's, Inc. and FAO Schwarz recently announced an agreement that will see FAO Schwarz opening FAO-operated toy stores in up to 275 Macy's stores in fall 2008. FAO Schwarz stores are planned to expand into a total of approximately 685 Macy's stores over the next two years. The FAO Schwarz store-within-a-store concept was tested in fall 2007 at Macy's on State Street in Chicago.

Under the agreement, FAO Schwarz has named Macy's the exclusive U.S. retail store host of FAO Schwarz departments, and FAO Schwarz will be the exclusive toy department in Macy's stores. FAO Schwarz will continues to independently own and operate its own stores including the Fifth Avenue Flagship store in the heart of New York City and its website, FAO.com.

The press release from the two companies says 75 of the FAO Schwarz inside Macy's locations will be as large as 1,000 and 3,500 square feet. Another approximately 200 Macy's stores will host smaller FAO Schwarz departments of between 200 and 300 square feet. FAO Schwarz products will also be sold on the macys.com website.

It sounds like a smart move by both retailers. Obviously, they will want to move quickly to open as many FAO-inside-Macy's stores as possible before the holiday toy rush hits.
